I'm evaluating a multi-media course on blogging from the folks at Simpleology. For a while, they're letting you snag it for free if you post about it on your blog.

It covers:

  • The best blogging techniques.
  • How to get traffic to your blog.
  • How to turn your blog into money.

I'll let you know what I think once I've had a chance to check it out. Meanwhile, go grab yours while it's still free.

Flexible Older Couple

4250D-0152CW-copy-4Wow, yoga does wonders for you. We just photographed this amazing couple. They had such calm, laid back energy. But flexible and strong. This image is one of the series we did of them together. We also did the reverse of this, Wes on the bottom holding Cheryl up. The series was inspiring.

Cheryl is more limber, I don't think I was ever that flexible. These are a couple from her series.  She was so fluid! I would make a suggestion and she would slip into it.   4250D-0030CW Click on the images to see a larger version4250D-0059CW4250D-0055CW-art-copy

Won the Best Figure Study Trophy!

Faded RoseI am thrilled. My image, Faded Rose, won the Professional photographers of Canada Annual Print Salon Best Figure Study. Combining several images with some interesting Photoshop filter work created this image that excited the Judges.

I love texture and aged papers. By photographing Christy against a plain background it was easy to work the blend. The vision was to create an image that had a timeless feel to it, (her shaved head sure helped) with lots of character and story. In addition to two other images that were accepted for display I had three accreditations accepted. They were Fine Art/Photo Decor, Animal Portrait, and Fantasy Illustration.

Audrey Hepburn Beauty Secrets

Audrey-hepburn I came across this wonderful poem Audrey Hepburn wrote when asked to share her “ Beauty Tips “. It was read at her funeral years later.

For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.

For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.

For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.

For beautiful hair, let a child run his/her fingers through it once a day.

For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone.

People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw anyone away.

Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms. As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands; one for helping yourself, and the other for helping others.

She was a very elegant lady.

Finished Images From Seminar

X1036A-002KS-8x10-v1X1036A-057KS-8x10-v2X1036A-032KS-8x10-v1 Amanda picked her fav images from the seminar. But rather than just print them I decided to have some fun with them. After all the effort she put in to get there, suffering with an air conditioner we could not turn down, she was great.

To see all the images I tinkered with go to Amanda. Some of the finer detail effects you might not see but they are cool. Most of this are created on the fly with a little help from a few Photoshop plugins.

As you look at these, keep in mind they were done in a hotel conference room, She is on a table with a full audience taking notes. She was such a delightful model.

Kelowna Seminar "What a Woman Desires"

X1036A-055KS-v3-turner  I enjoy teaching so when Dean invited me to put on a seminar for the Professional Photographers of BC, I readily agreed. They took a leap of faith, my niche for this presentation was not the usual wedding family fair but we had a full house of mostly women. All wonderfully enthusatic.

It was exciting to have sponsor support as well. Beau Photo Supplies Inc.(www.beauphoto.com) filled up the back of the room with photo gear and albums. They were even kind enough to let me use some of their new soft boxes and lights for my demonstration.

But the real story is Amanda, our model. her pictures are here. She is new to modeling and had never modeled at a seminar before. A few days before the modeling gig, she tried to make up biz cards and her printer went strange, on her way to arrive early her car dies so she hikes for 30 or more minuetes to the hotel.

She arrives flushed but bubbley and enthused. She was amazing! We got her into something skimpy as the photo shows and she gave us great stuff. The airconditioners at the hotel could not be turned down. So once her body cooled down from the walk, she felt the chill. We were slipping coats on her between shots. Never quipped once that is was rough.

She just smiled and posed. She is going to go far!

Finola - We Love Her!

She is my sister'™s (Julie) daughter. Al is her happy dad. The only other person I have ever seen who grins as often and just as big is Julie. She lives south of the 49th so I don't get to see her as often as I like. She is so dear.

We photographed her with mom whenever they are up, always a highlight of our day. I have a wall print from her session hanging in my studio, we even made a quilt out of one of the images.

These videos are new and a lot of fun to create. I hope you enjoy this one as much as we do!
